When people think about senior portraits, they often picture fields at sunset or downtown brick walls, complete with a cap and gown. But for Brooke, there was never a question about where her session would take place. Her senior portraits had to be on the dairy farm.
As a Class of 2026 senior, active member of 4-H and the National FFA Organization, and someone who spends countless early mornings working with livestock, the farm isn’t just where she works — it’s part of who she is.
And that’s exactly what senior photos should reflect.

The sound of cattle in the background, boots on the gravel driveway, and Brooke completely at ease in her element — that’s when you know a session is going to be special.
As a Maryland senior portrait photographer, I always encourage seniors to choose a location that feels authentic. For Brooke, that meant:
The dairy barn
The pasture
The equipment she works with every day
And of course… her animals
This wasn’t a styled backdrop. This was real life. And it photographed absolutely beautifully.
Brooke has been working on the farm for years. Mays Dairy Farm is somewhat of a second home to Brooke. Her days typically start and end here, caring for the new calves.

There were several special guests for her session, and if you know me well, you know that I was head over heels in love with every single one of them!
First and foremost, Brooke's sweet cow, Sass, was such an important part of her senior portraits. Brooke has put so much love and care into this cow and shows her at 4H Fairs. Miss Sassy gave birth just a few days after our session together- which partially explains why she was stopping to graze every few steps. There were brand new calves to visit in the barn and if you head over to my instagram, you'll see that those babies and I became besties immediately! Brooke's dogs also popped by for a few photos.

Brooke's love for all things agricultural runs deep. She was the Hereford FFA President for the 2024-2025 school year and the FFA Junior Advisor for the 2025-2026 school year. In addition to working at Mays Dairy Farm, Brooke also works for North Acres Farm in Parkton. You can find her at farmer's markets on the weekends with a booth of fresh meats and eggs.

The farm had so many great backgrounds and textures to add interest to this senior portrait session. The golden light coming into the calf barn was unreal. The corrugated metal on the silos was a perfect place to stop and snap a few images with her FFA jacket. Half of a rusted hay feeder- honestly, a dream. A stack of old tires hates to see me coming!

There’s something powerful about documenting seniors in the place that shaped them. The farm builds work ethic. It builds leadership. It builds resilience. Brooke’s involvement in 4H and FFA has helped shape who she is becoming - and senior portraits are about capturing that season before everything changes.
What's next for Brooke? After graduation, she is looking forward to continuing her work on the farm and a career in real estate. I've gotten to know her over the last couple of years and I know that she will excel in anything she chooses!
